For Azerbaijanis, it takes time to cultivate respect and trust. For partnership to work, North Americans need to understand the high value that Azerbaijanis place on relationships. We need to take time to drink tea together. More important than fulfilling project goals is the journey of doing it together with brothers and sisters that you love.

Background
The Translation Trust has been involved in the translation and production of an Easy to Read New Testament for the Azerbaijani people. They worked alongside trusted partners with Kitab Shirketi in Baku to accomplish this. Kitab Shirketi is a local independent Bible publishing company that has close connetions with the evangelical churches in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a Muslim-majority nation of just over 10 million people with only about 17,000 Evangelical Christians.
